RIL works by:
- collecting registrations from businesses with details of their capability
- listing opportunities and projects along with the products and services required
- matching the capability of registered businesses to the requirements
- providing registered businesses with automatic notification of relevant opportunities.
| Regional Industry Link (RIL) is an industry development initiative that assists Victorian businesses across all industry sectors access opportunities and major public and private projects.
Following a successful pilot program RIL has been rolled out state-wide and now provides a portal for businesses across Victoria to access many of the State’s major projects, as well as opportunities to supply to council projects and private industry buyers.
Registered businesses benefit from automatic notification of relevant opportunities to bid for work where their goods or services are required. Businesses can also register their interest against specific projects.
RIL is a Victorian Government initiative funded through Regional Development Victoria and managed by the Industry Capability Network (ICN) Victoria.
Are you a buyer, project manager or council looking for a simple, cost-free tool for identifying local suppliers?
RIL provides buyers with access to its database of Victorian business capability. The site is easy to use and searchable by product or service, region, industry or keyword.
RIL allows you to list your project requirements and capture registrations of interest from local industry. Notification of your requirements and the opportunity to bid for the work will be automatically sent to registered businesses with the required capability.

Major Projects
RIL has been used to collect registrations of interest for more than 20 major projects in Victoria, including water infrastructure, construction, mining and council procurement activities. Projects currently listed on the site and collecting registrations of interest include the Victorian desalination project and other major water infrastructure projects, wind energy projects, projects under the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution program, the Victorian bushfire reconstruction process and Revitalising Central Dandenong.

Pilot Program
RIL began as a pilot program across a limited number of rural municipalities during 2007. This was gradually expanded and in January 2010 the Brumby Government provided funding for the program to be rolled out state-wide across all 79 Victorian councils. During the 18 month pilot program RIL connected 3,000 regional Victorian businesses to projects across the State and assisted participating companies secure $15 million in contracts.
